Arts and Crafts for Dreamers and the Dream Act

We'll have a table set up in Market Square Park for individuals to come by and learn about DACA/the DREAM ACT, and sign their name on a human shaped "DREAMER" cutout with a special message to Senator Rob Portman as to why he should Vote YES on the DREAM ACT. On Oct 5th (the last day to renew DACA status) a group will deliver the DREAMER cutouts to Portmans office. We need volunteers to talk to people on the street, collect signed DREAMERS, and we need YOU to stop by and fill one out. Hosted by Indivisible CLE

    Handmaids' Protest for Planned Parenthood

Description: Let's join together and loudly call out the sexism and anti-women policies of Trump and politicians - or risk starring in a real-life version of "The Handmaid's Tale." This is a key moment for women to resist - to rise up and boldly demonstrate that a society where women are treated as anything but equals will not be tolerated. Come help us make a stand against the anti choice bills SB 145 and SB 164. Hosted by Ultra Violet

District 14 Voice Potluck & Meet and Greet with Betsy Rader

Do you want to meet fellow members of District 14 Voice and other progressive grassroots groups that live throughout District 14? Join us as we come together to collaborate, educate and celebrate our hard work. We are stronger together and when each of us bring our strengths to the table, watch out! District 14 Voice is joining forces with groups throughout the district to host a potluck, with special guest Betsy Rader, Ohio’s District 14 Democratic Congressional candidate. It’ll be a time of food and fun while getting to know more about what each of our groups have been up to and how we can work together. (Petitions to end gerrymandering and postcards to send to Joyce will also be available.) It is a chance for us to hear about Betsy's vision for the future and for her to hear ours. To try and stay organized with the potluck, we have created a link. Please use the link to sign up for something to share and let us know what you are bringing If you have any issues with the sign up feel free to message an admin or send an email to  Hosted by District 14 Voice and Indivisible Ashtabula County, Moving Forward Together

Portman, Don't Waffle on Health Care!

We're all tired of Senator Portman refusing to take a stand of the devastating Graham-Cassidy "health care" bill. While he pretends to run the numbers to see how this bill will affect Ohioans (spoiler: it's not looking great), we'll be delivering waffles of all kinds to his Cleveland office. Frozen waffles, waffle cones, waffle fries: all are welcome. In case we can't make the delivery to his staffers, come hungry. Hosted by OFA - Ohio

    Film Screening: Free to Ride

Free To Ride is the story of the relentless spirit of community members from across Dayton, Ohio who overcame a suburban contingent opposed to the expansion of public transit along a commercial corridor, and the system of checks and balances that allowed justice and reason to prevail.  Free To Ride is a promising story about how hard work, collaboration, and the accountability systems can yield fair and just outcomes for all. Check out the trailer  Hosted by Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival and Clevelanders For Public Transit.

    Drowning in Student Debt

More than 687,000 Ohioans owe $19 billion in federal student loan debt. Join us for a conversation with Daniel Ortiz from Policy Matters Ohio to talk about the Student Debt Liberation Campaign, the rising cost of education, and steps being taken to throw a life raft to people drowning in student debt. See what you can do to avoid the loan debt trap or get out from under your loans without being taken advantage of by loan service providers or for-profit schools. This is part of Preterm's Monthly Community Event Series, so it’s free and open to the public! Stop Zombie Trumpcare!

The Trumpcare zombie has risen from its stinking grave. This time, it’s called Graham-Cassidy, and it’s even more deranged than the previous Trumpcare bills. We have to fight like hell one last time to kill it- if we make it past 11:59 PM on September 30th, the Republicans would need 60 votes, not 50 + Pence, to repeal the ACA. We can’t let them steal our healthcare! We need everyone to come out for this protest at Portman’s Cleveland office. Lives are on the line. If you’re feeling feisty, dress up like a zombie. Don’t feel like doing that? Wear black. Don’t have black clothes? No worries, just show up! We’ll be there from 4-6, come when you can. Spread the word and get others to attend!  Hosted by Action Together Lakewood Area and Indivisible CLE
