No Gag Rule. Protect Our Care

Any minute now, we are expecting the Trump administration to announce an Executive Order blocking Planned Parenthood health centers from receiving Title X funds and banning other Title X recipients from counseling patients on their full reproductive health options.

Make no mistake, this is a Domestic Gag Rule, and its consequences will be devastating to health care:
    - It will impose new rules that are designed to make it impossible for patients to get birth control or preventative care from designated family planning providers like Planned Parenthood.
    - Under this rule doctors, nurses, hospitals, and community health centers across the country will no longer be able to refer their patients for safe, legal abortion.
    - It removes the guarantee that you’re getting full and accurate information about your health care from your doctor. For nearly two decades, Title X has been clear: Health care providers cannot withhold information from you about your pregnancy options. This new rule means they can.

Planned Parenthood health centers serve 41% of Title X patients nationally and 63% of Title X patients in Ohio. If the domestic gag rule is enacted, it will leave these patients without access to life-saving services like birth control, cancer screenings, well-woman exams, and more.

We won’t stand for this! Join us on Wednesday, May 30th at 12:00 p.m. at Supreme Court of Ohio, 66 S. Civic Center Dr. (we will be directly in front of the building at the Coleman Point park) where we will host a large Rally and Press Conference.

Tell the Trump Administrative to stop attacking our health care. #NoGagRule #ProtectOurCare

Happy Dog Takes on the World: Clean Energy and National Security

Clean energy is big business in the U.S. and around the world. In the electricity sector, global investments in new renewable energy capacity are outstripping those for fossil fuel. Meanwhile, rapid advancements in energy storage and electric vehicles are transforming global markets. A recent report from the CNA Military Advisory Board noted that the accelerating trend to advanced energy “will give rise to economic challenges–and opportunities–for the U.S., our allies, and our adversaries.”

Energy is also a key challenge for our military. Our deployed forces are frequently dependent on vulnerable fuel supply chains. Here at home, the growing threats of severe weather and cyber-attacks on the commercial electrical grid create risk for our military bases and the missions they support.

What are the implications of the shift to clean energy for U.S. national security and how can we ensure that this transformation benefits our economy and position in the world? How can energy efficiency, renewable energy, and other advanced technologies like energy storage and microgrids strengthen military capability and improve mission resilience? And what kinds of opportunities does energy market transformation present for northeastern Ohio?

Join us for a free conversation on the intersection of clean energy and national security.
