Immigrant Rights: Education and Action

Immigrant Rights: Education and Action

“Immigrant Rights: Education and Action” will be addressed in two parts.

“The DREAM Act: Legislation and Action” is a short workshop on how you can get involved with state-level coordinated campaigns to create political pressure to pass a clean DREAM Act, presented by Lynn Tramonte of Ohio’s Voice/America’s Voice.

“Sanctuary: What Does it Mean? What Can You Do?” is an informational discussion on the theoretical and practical value of the practice of sanctuary in cities, churches, and other institutions. This panel will include two Oberlin College professors, local clergy, Oberlin's City Manager and a member of Oberlin's City Council, and members of the Executive Committee of Lorain Ohio Immigrants’ Rights Association (LOIRA).

Held in conjunction with the AFSC Waging Peace: 100 Years of Action Centennial Banner Exhibit sponsored by Oberlin Friends Meeting and Community Peace Builders.
