Now's the Time Movie Premiere
Premiums constantly rising. Sky-high deductibles. Co-pays that prevent doctor visits. Prescription drug costs going through the roof. Businesses large and small unable to compete in the marketplace due to the high cost of employee healthcare benefits. Seniors discovering that Medicare is not enough. Providers not able to treat their patients with the best treatment options.
It can't be denied that the American healthcare system is dysfunctional and unjust. Prioritizing profit over people's lives has become the modus operandi of pharamceutical and health insurance companies. Like so many other things in our country, it's time to say, "Enough is enough!" It's time to act in our own best interests. And Now's the Time for improved Medicare for All!
Join us for the Ohio premiere of Now's the Time, followed by a discussion with a panel including the filmmakers and activists from Demand Universal Healthcare (DUH), Single Payer Action Network of Ohio (SPAN Ohio) and National Nurses United (NNU) who will answer questions after the film.
Laurie Simons and Terry Sterrenberg have continued to document the struggle for universal healthcare that they began in their classic first film, The Healthcare Movie. Their new documentary, Now's the Time, chronicles, through interviews, animation, and exposé, the drama, struggle, and success of the U.S. movement to achieve healthcare justice and access to comprehensive, equitable, high-quality healthcare for everybody.
In addition to the screening and discussion, NNU will be hosting an event outside the theater starting at 6:30 to protest the TPP, which has negative healthcare implications here, as well as around the world. Make it an evening of activism and attend both! You're sure to learn something you don't already know!
Seats are limited and those who register with EventBrite will be seated first. Be sure to reserve your seat now!
