Pipeline Divestment Meeting

Pipeline Divestment Meeting

Energy Transfer Partners (ETP) is a company with a long history of constructing fossil fuel pipelines. Now the Energy Transfer Partners is busy in Ohio where they have accumulated a great number of citations for violations of the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts while building the Rover pipeline, which is a crucial infrastructure project for the development of fracking in Ohio. Unfortunately, the pipeline and fracking companies have done their homework and have removed practically all avenues that individuals and communities have to fight such projects through regulatory laws and agencies. From the well head to the pipeline it is a green light all the way. Especially since the advent of the Trump administration.  About the only recourse those fighting these pipeline issues have is to put pressure on the banks and financial institutions that are financing the pipeline projects.  There has been a significant number of cities, universities, religious institutions and individuals who have divested in pipeline companies and the fossil fuel sector in general. So, the question is do we want to start such a campaign in Cleveland?  We are inviting all who are interested in the possibilities of such a campaign to come to this meeting. Hosted by CLEAN (Cleveland Environmental Action Network).
