The Prison Industrial Complex in the Land of the Free: A film screening of 13th

The Prison Industrial Complex in the Land of the Free: A film screening of 13th

Join the ACLU of Ohio to watch and discuss Ava Duvernay's four-time Emmy Award winning documentary, 13th. This screening will allow community members and ACLU staff to engage in a conversation about the prison industry, mass incarceration, and the systematic criminalization of African Americans. This enlightening documentary refers to the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, and argues that mass incarceration is the mechanism for modern day slavery. Katrice Williams, policy associate for the ACLU of Ohio, and and Hana Abdur Rahim, activist with People Justice, will lead a discussion after the screening and touch on themes of power, race, and culture. This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided. RSVP here. Hosted by ACLU of Ohio
