As you may know, the Cleveland Browns have been floating the idea of building a new domed stadium which could cost as much as $2 billion. At our March meeting we’re going to do a cost vs. benefit analysis of public sector dollars going into projects like this. Our special guest is West Virginia University Economics Professor, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Research, and renowned stadium finance expert Dr. Brad Humphreys. CCPC will also provide a local activist perspective from our past work on the 2017 Q renovations and referendum effort and the Guardians more recent Progressive Field renovation project. We’d like to hear from you ahead of time. Included in the registration link below is a section where you can share your thoughts on the issue. We haven’t gotten together for a Holiday Party since before the Pandemic. This year it looks like we can! But instead of getting together in December when people are busy getting ready for the holidays we thought it best to wait until January and celebrate the seventh anniversary of our office opening in 2016!

And we have a venue just down the street from the office: The Ohio Inn has a cash bar and we’ll provide the food. If you can’t make it but can make a donation please click the link below
Or mail a check made out to Cuyahoga County Progressive Caucus to CCPC Office, 11910 Detroit Ave. Lakewood, Ohio 44107

If you can make it but can’t donate at this time please come anyways for the celebration!

Also, we’d like to know how many are coming so we can determine how much food to bring. Please RSVP by clicking the going link on Facebook, sending an email to steve@cuycpc.org or calling Steve at 440 220 1874.

Shut Down Fake Pregnancy Centers! Round Two

Share Event

Gather at 11:30am at Bernice Pyke Park – St. Charles Avenue entrance in Lakewood.

Long before the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v Wade, anti-choice extremists have been attacking abortion access. One of their tactics is setting up fake “pregnancy centers” that look like medical clinics but don’t practice medicine or follow standardized ethics. There are six fake pregnancy centers in Cuyahoga County, and we need your help to SHUT. THEM. DOWN.

Join us to #ExposeFakeClinics one by one, at our second location, Birthright of Lakewood. We’ll march from the park to the street in front of the center to raise awareness and provide handouts with actual resources for people seeking care. And we won’t be alone — medical professionals and students are standing with us to stop these fake clinics.

What are fake pregnancy centers?

These centers or “clinics” don’t provide comprehensive reproductive health care — instead, they use phony ads to trick pregnant people into making appointments, promising “pregnancy support” or “free ultrasounds.”
Once inside, people are shamed, pressured and lied to about their health decisions, and clinic workers will use stalling techniques to push them past the deadline for seeking legal abortions. Not bound by HIPPA or any standardized ethics, these predatory clinics are funded by our taxpayer dollars and impact people of color, poor people, gender non-conforming folks and transmen the hardest. Help us end this deception by shutting these fake clinics down one by one!
